What is mentoring?

Mentoring is a proven tool for developing and achieving career goals. An experienced person (mentor) shares their knowledge, skills and network with a less experienced person (mentee) within a trusted relationship. The aim is to support the mentee’s personal and professional development and help them navigate challenges.

What makes Energy Mentoring by NET special?

Our programme benefits from a strong network of committed mentors from NET member companies. They provide exciting insights into different job profiles and career paths in the energy sector. This allows you to discover a range of perspectives and gain guidance for your own professional journey. The diverse experiences of our mentors show you where your degree can take you and which development opportunities are open to you.

What to expect

Your approximately six-month mentoring journey begins with a kick-off event. During this time, you will be supported by an experienced specialist or manager from the energy sector who has the same or a related academic background and has already successfully shaped their own career path. Through personal exchange, you will gain valuable guidance for your own professional future and insights into the many opportunities within the sector.

As part of the mentoring partnership, three personal meetings will take place with your mentor. These conversations offer space for individual questions, new perspectives and reflection on topics that are currently relevant to your studies or to planning your next steps.

The mentoring programme is complemented by two empowerment workshops, where you will get to know practical methods and digital tools for self-organisation, time management and a successful career start. A peer meeting with the other participants, as well as a workplace visit, will provide additional practical insights and round off the programme.
